Doctors – The Batmen of Eid Ul Azha

Summary The medical staff including doctors, nurses and ambulance drivers etc continue serving even on Eid.

(WebDesk) – Whilst everyone enjoys the festivities of Eid by eating delicious food, attending family functions and meeting up with friends, certain people are busy fulfilling their duties wholeheartedly. Such people are the strong pillars that hold the entire society together. The doctors that work day and night to ensure the safety of the patients are indeed the Batmen of Pakistan.

For them nothing is more important than seeing their patients walk back on their feet to their homes with a bright smile on their faces even if that means sacrificing national holidays. Not only doctors but also every staff member of the hospital ranging from the security guards to the ambulance drivers give it their all to make sure that patients get treated efficiently that too on time.

Since these professionals are dedicated to serving the patients as their very own, humanitarian service is indeed their first priority. They treat the duty as their national responsibility and hence respond to the cause effectively.

Even if some of the more senior doctors are allowed to go home to celebrate Eid, most of them are almost always ready on their feet, expecting an emergency phone call from their hospitals or private clinics every time. When such an emergency arises, they have to leave their friends and family hanging to cater to the needs of the ones restricted to the hospital beds.

Indeed only a few people of our country can experience or understand the same grief witness by the doctors that have to spend the blessed days of Eid away from their loved ones.

“We do miss our families, but duty comes first“, says Dr. Intizar Hussain. Photo: Screenshot

“Of course who doesn’t love to spend time with their families especially on Eid? But for us doctors, duty always comes first. Once we make a promise to ourselves that we will treat patients wholeheartedly, then events like Eid or Independence Day seem less important”, Says Dr. Intizar Hussain.

Dr. Uzma believes doctors should be respected for their sacrifices. Photo: Screenshot

Dr. Uzma of the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital says: “If we sacrifice so much and dedicate our lives for the sake of our people, it is the responsibility of the people to respect us in return as well because none of this easy obviously.”

For someone to leave the happy and jubilant faces of their parents, children, brothers and sisters just for the sake of seeing smiles on the faces of others is very hard to say the least and that is exactly what makes such people batmen; the silent heroes of our society.
