ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday disposed of petition seeking disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA-elect Amir Liaquat over hiding second marriage.
As per details garnered, a four-member bench of ECP headed by Sindh Election Commission’s member Ghaffor Sumroo resumed hearing of the case.
During hearing, Amir Liaquat held that he had not hidden his second marriage in the nomination papers. Liaquat further stated before the bench that only names of those siblings were included in the nomination papers who are dependent on him.
He told the bench that his second wife is not dependent on him.
Upon hearing this, ECP dismissed the petition.
According to the copy of the marriage registration certificate available with the Dunya News, Amir Liaquat 46, secretly wed with the private TV channel’s employee Syed Tooba Anwar 23, in Karachi. The nikahnama got registered with NADRA last year on July 17, 2017.
Liaquat, tied the knot with Syeda Tooba lasy year. His Nikah was performed by Mufti Abdul Qadir in the presence of close friends Syed Ali Imam, Hamood Munawar and Abdul Wahab as witnesses.
