Summary If this keeps on happening, election campaigns are going to be more and more repulsive.
(WebDesk/DunyaNews) - Political differences are evident in every society, but in democratically strong countries, politicians do not take these differences too personal and start maligning their opponents. In Pakistan unfortunately we take political differences too grave that listening to opponent’s viewpoint becomes an uphill task. For disgracing opponents every mean, no matter how vile and disgusting it is, is adopted. In a recent instance, a disgraceful act surfaced in which an animal, donkey, was tortured brutally. The word ‘Nawaz’ was written on it.
Leading political parties of Pakistan are equally responsible for this cruelty. In fact, political leadership is not ready to absorb differences, how will masses do that?

Things are so severe that not only their supporters are ready to listen to each other point of view but their first and second tier leaders never let any opportunity of maligning their opponents go away. This trend ahead of General Election 2018 will aggravate the situation. Twitterati condemned the act.

Hatred is prominent in political campaigns
Unfortunately, in Pakistan, political loathsome is evident everywhere which needs to be controlled and at least animals should not be subject to torture. Writing Nawaz on the equine and then torturing it is utterly an inhumane act which should have been condemned from every political party. Neither Nawaz should have been written on it nor the donkey should have been beaten this way.
Luckily, members of ACF Animal Rescue, came to rescue the poor animal left savagely incapacitated. Fascinatingly, they have adopted it and named it ‘hero’ and it is doing well.

Another remorseful act surfaced over the internet and this time PTI pamphlets were attached on the body of the dog. Making matters worse his picture was taken and circulated over the social media. Overall both these incidents are despicable and should be condemned. Interestingly, PTI censured both of them through its official twitter account, which undoubtedly is admirable and other parties should follow suit.

Law should take its way
Whoever has done it should be brought to justice. He should be punished in accordance to Pakistan Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1890. Section 3 of the act deals with the cruelty on the animals and makes it a punishable act. On the other side, section 429 of the Pakistan Penal Code 1860 also makes it a serious crime to kill or injure an animal. Doing so can imprison the person for five years.

Sadly, there is no law formed recently which could safeguard the rights of the animals. Furthermore, there does not seem to be any instance in which cruelty like this has been punished accordingly. As the elections are ahead, adopting nefarious means to dishonor political opponents should be condemned or the election campaigns are going to be more and more abhorrent.
