ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday upheld LHC verdict by rejecting pletition against acceptancel of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s nomination papers, and cleared his way towards contesting upcoming 2018 General Elections from NA-57 Rawalpindi.
The two- member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, heard the case against Abbasi’s nomination papers.
The petitioner Masood Ahmed Abbas had pleaded Shahid Khaqan Abbasi “misstated facts” in his nomination papers submitted for .
The CJP said in his remarks that the petitioner wasted time of the Apex Court by moving moving petition against LHC decision.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan sought the proof of concealment of asets, termed the petition irrelevant.
The petitioner Masood Ahmed Abbas, a senior lawyer himself, had moved SC i against f Lahore High Court.verdict clearing Mr Abbasi to contest the election from the said constituency.
However, the Supreme Court has dismissed the petition for want of evidence.
