RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – United Nations Department of Peace Keeping Operations Under Secretary General Jean Pierre Lacroix on Monday visited Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS), at National University of Science and Technology (NUST).
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), while interacting with students and faculty members, the diplomat paid rich tribute to sacrifices of Pakistani peacekeepers for global peace and security and saving civilian lives under UN umbrella.
CIPS was established in 2013 to provide peacekeeping training to domestic and international peacekeepers and was inaugurated by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
Earlier, Jean Pierre Lacroix also met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ in Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, he paid rich tribute to Pakistani Peacekeepers for their professionalism, sacrifices and contributions to global peace efforts.
The UN diplomat also met Interior Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Foreign Affairs said that Pakistan is playing effective role at every forum.
