Summary Qureshi-Tareen rift is inflicting negative impact on PTI’s electoral campaign.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – All efforts of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan aimed at slashing differences between vice-president Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen have failed to produce intended outcomes, inside-aware told Dunya News.
Perturbed Khan has held several rounds of talk with both leaders and party’s politburo to curb the differences but the Qureshi-Tareen duo did not reach on any conclusion.
Qureshi-Tareen rift is not only inflicting negative impact on PTI’s electoral campaign but is also deepening the rupture within the party, and that too at time when Khan has confessed to presence of factions within party.
Zain Qureshi—son of Shah Mehmood Qureshi—stated that differences are not personal rather they emanated from distribution of the party. He added that they would accept whatever decision is announced by Imran Khan on this issue.
On the other hand, Tareen—while responding to Qureshi’s recent remarks—asserted that he was still in the game and would continue to lead party’s election campaign.
Concerned by the deepening ruptures within the party ahead of General Elections 2018, Khan summoned party’s vice-president Shah Mehmood Qureshi to his residence yesterday.
Sources stated that cricketer-turned-politician barred Qureshi from making statements against Jahangir Tareen while warning at the same time that only foes will benefit from such statements ahead of general polls.
Qureshi—who made his differences with Tareen public—had stated that he need not to worry from a person who even can’t contest elections.
Keeping verbal onslaught up, Qureshi taunted that Tareen was not even in the game [read politics].
