Summary Pakistan not attending three-country conference in Brussels.
Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir summoned US Ambassador Cameron Munter in Foreign Office and sought explanation over the drone attack on a peace jirga in Datta Khel in which 40 people were killed.According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Pakistan conveyed a strong message to the US that drone attacks were unacceptable and harmful for the war on terror.The United States should not take Pakistan as its lackey state. There was a need to reconsider the basic principles of mutual relations between the US and Pakistan, the statement said. The situation doesn’t allow Pakistan to attend a three-country conference in Brussels, it said.The US envoy said that he clearly understood that this was not a formal protest and that he would rush to Washington to convey the Pakistan’s message.
