ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Justice Munib Akhtar was sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court in an oath-taking ceremony in SC building Islamabad on Tuesday.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar administered the oath to him. Supreme Court judges, advocate generals, officials of Pakistan Bar and senior lawyers attended the ceremony.
His appointment was confirmed by President Mamnoon Hussain in the notification issued on Saturday.
Justice Munib was a judge in the Sindh High Court (SHC) prior to his Supreme Court appointment. In terms of seniority, he is ranked fourth on the list of SHC judges.
A summary pertaining to the elevation was signed after the recommendations of judicial commission and parliamentary committee.
The CJP had also proposed the elevation of Sindh High Court Justice Munib Akhtar as a judge of the Supreme Court.
