A court in Islamabad has remanded former federal minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi to police custody on a five-day remand.The FIA had requested the court to grant a 14-day physical remand of Kazmi but the court granted five-day physical remand of the former minister in Hajj corruption case.On the other hand, activists from Sunni organisations staged protest demonstrations against Kazmi’s arrest in Multan and shouted slogans against the government and the prime minister.The angry protesters burnt the banners of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani at Ghanta Ghar chowk. They also burnt the effigy of Azam Swati. Traffic remained suspended at the chowk. A shutterdown strike was observed in Kashmore against Kazmi’s arrest.
