LAHORE (Dunya News) – Minister for Foreign Affairs Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Thursday lauded University of Central Punjab (UCP) for installing .5magawatt solar power facility for self consumption.
The forein minister took to the twitter to praise the UCP administration. He said: “University of Central Punjab Lahore has installed .5mgwt solar power facility for self consumption..great initiative..off grid solar power is cheap,clean & with reverse metering it generates income too.”

According to the UCP’s “Go Green Project”, a maximum of .5megawatts of electricity can be generated. The solar power plant was set up in a record period of three months.
The British company has installed 1600 solar panels after which the university s 40 percent electricity load was transferred to solar energy.
A “Green Walk” was also held at the varsity in this regard.
On the occasion, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was singed between the UCP and Premier Energy.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Muhammad Zafarullah said that this is the largest solar unit in the education circle.
