Summary Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena will be the Guest of Honor on Pakistan Day parade.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena will reach Islamabad today (Thursday) on a three-day visit to Pakistan. He will be the Guest of Honor on Pakistan Day parade on March 23.

The participation of President Sirisena in the Pakistan Day parade is a demonstration of the very close ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the respect in which the people and leadership of Pakistan hold the President of Sri Lanka, a foreign office statement issued here on Wednesday said.

The Sri Lankan President will also hold meetings with President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi during the visit. Matters of mutual importance will come under discussion during these meetings.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka would also sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on cooperation in the fields of training of civil servants, diplomats and youth development.

The FO statement further stated that Pakistan greatly values its relations with Sri Lanka. Relations between the two countries are based on mutual trust and understanding.

The visit will provide renewed impetus to our bilateral relations and enhance the goodwill existing between the people of the two countries, the FO statement said.
