(Dunya News) – Harbanspura’s 20-year-old bridge, which is one of the major sources for residents to cross the canal, is on the brink of demolition.
The residents of this locality in Lahore are facing immense difficulty while crossing this bridge, which is severely damaged and needs the attention of the local administration.
Thirty thousand residents of Harbanspura are affected by the current state of the bridge.
The government promised to construct an overhead bridge in that area. However, the bridge was never constructed, instead almost 10 feet of the bridge has been destructed rendering it dangerous for the people. For the past many years, commuters are still using the bridge and risking their lives.

Speaking to Dunya News, angry commuters said that the state of the bridge is terrible which is affecting everyone, especially old and school-going children.
“I am scared to walk on this bridge. Half of it is broken,” a school-going girl said.
Being the only bridge in the vicinity, 700 feet on both sides, commuters say they are forced to use it without there being any alternative bridge or crossing for pedestrians.
