KARACHI (Dunya News) – Two factions of troubled Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQMP) namely, Bahadurabad office and PIB Colony group have reportedly agreed on five candidates including Kamran Tessori and Barrister Farogh Naseem to contest Senate elections.
MQMP was divided in two groups last month over an ugly disagreement concerning issuance of tickets to candidates for Senate elections however, according to a development that has surfaced today, the factions have struck consensus over as many as five names.
PIB Colony’s Dr Farooq Sattar and Bahadurabad office leader Khalid Maqbool Siddique addressed a joint press conference to announce the news today, a day before Senate elecions scheduled for March 3.
Dr Sattar and Maqbool Siddique asserted that remaining outstanding issues would be resolved as well.
Dr Sattar has said that though the two factions had a disagreement in the recent past but the members were in contact and mediation was underway. He said that the leaders do not want to see the political organisation divided and have agreed on five candidates.
MQMP chief thanked companions of Bahadurabad leader Siddique among others to continue with mediation.
He further announced that Barrister Farogh Naseem and Kamran Tessori are to contest Senate elections for General seats while Abdul Qadir Khanzada is party’s candidate for a technocrat seat.
Dr Nighat Shakeel is party’s candidate for women’s quota and for minorities’ quota, Sanjay Parwani is organisation’s candidate, Dr Sattar added.
On the occasion, Siddique said that all leaders of the political party support the five names agreed upon.
