Summary PML-N is meeting Punjab House to mull next move after Supreme Court’s verdict today.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is meeting in Punjab House to deliberate a response to Supreme Court’s verdict today.
Following Supreme Court’s verdict in appeals against Elections Act 2017 that declared Nawaz Sharif not qualified for holding any office in a political party, PML-N leaders are gathering in Punjab House to formulate next move.
According to sources, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Maryam Nawaz, Parvez Rasheed, Mariam Aurangzeb, Abid Sher Ali, Danyal Aziz, Musaddiq Malik, Tehmina Daultana, Asif Kirmani, Junaid Anwar, Arshad Laghari, Sardar Yousaf and Saira Afzal. Important decisions regarding Senate elections and response to SC’s verdict will be taken.
Earlier today, accountability court has reserved verdict on Nawaz Sharif’s objections over supplementary references filed by NAB.
Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar appeared in the court during which the former PM expressed reservations on the references.
Meanwhile, NAB prosecutor said that new documents regarding income of Sharif family were submitted in the references, adding that SC had ordered to file interim references in six weeks.
The court has accepted Nawaz and Maryam’s exemption plea from today’s hearing and directed Captain (r) Safdar to appear at 1.30pm after which the verdict in supplementary references will be announced.
Nawaz has appeared in the court for 20 times, Maryam Nawaz for 22 times while Captain (r) Safdar has attended the hearings on 24 occasions.
