Summary The Supreme Court has sought a report on out of the way promotions in the Punjab Police.
The court has ordered the authorities concerned to end shoulder promotions in the Police Department within three days. A three-member SC bench led by Justice Javed Iqbal heard a case about irregular promotions in the Punjab Police.The SC ordered Additional Inspector General of the Punjab Police to submit a report on criteria of promotions in the Punjab Police and submit a report after implementing the court orders about ending shoulder promotions within three days.The court said that the out of the way promotions were unlawful. Promotions should be reviewed and report should be submitted in four weeks, the court said.
