Summary FO spokesman said statements of Indian Army Chief reflect current mindset prevalent in India
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday that the armed forces have shown exemplary restraint and are fully capable of giving a befitting response to safeguard the motherland.
FO spokesman Mohammad Faisal held a press briefing in Islamabad where he responded to a question regarding the statements of Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat who claimed that Pakistan Army has suffered more casualties and damage than India in ceasefire violations (CFVs).
He said, "The Government and people of Pakistan believe in a peaceful neighborhood, which is essential for peace and development. Cooperation instead of conflict is the only way forward but this needs to be reciprocated by actions not words. Pakistan believes a peaceful neighborhood is the prerequisite for regional development."
He informed that Indian Deputy High Commissioner (DHC) J.P. Singh was summoned to the Foreign Office (FO) over the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on 4th February 4 in Nezapir, Nikial and Karela Sectors. The firing had resulted in martyrdom of two civilians with seven injured including two children, he added.
The FO spokesperson told that the Indian forces have carried out more than 190 ceasefire violations along the LoC in 2018 alone, martyring 13 civilians with 65 others injured.
On Libya boat tragedy, he said 11 bodies were recovered and identified bodies will be dispatched to Pakistan within the next 3 days.
Talking about the peace deal between Afghan government and the Hizb-e-Islami, he said Pakistan believes that political process is the most viable solution to the conflict in Afghanistan and welcomed the move. "We believe it can serve as model to negotiate similar deals with other insurgent groups including Taliban," FO spokesman told.
