Summary The court expressed resentment over failure to submit Raja Zafarul Haq committee report.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday reprimanded the Director General (DG) Intelligence Bureau (IB) Aftab Sultan for not presenting the report of Faizabad sit-in case.
During the hearing, the court expressed resentment over failure to submit Raja Zafarul Haq committee report.
The court directed Defence Secretary retired Lt-Gen Zamirul Hassan Shah to re-submit report in the case giving reason why the name of army chief was mentioned in the agreement with the protesters.
DG IB did not submit the report related to viral audio-recording of the sit-in. Justice Shaukat Aziz remarked that contempt of court proceedings will be initiated against the relevant people if the report is not submitted till said date.
Members of various religious parties, including the Tehreek-i-Labbaik (TLY) staged a sit-in at Islamabad s busy Faizabad Interchange Nov 2017 over the changes to the Khatm-i-Nabuwwat declaration.
The amendment was reversed as soon as it was notified but the protesters blocked the main highway for at least 22 days which adversely affected the routine life in twin cities.
However; the religious parties decided to call off their protest after a failed operation by security forces and finally reaching an agreement with top civil-military officials.
