ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Spokesperson for Foreign Office (FO) has said on Sunday while updating the media on Libya boat accident that bodies of 13 of the 32 Pakistanis were identified while four are yet to be identified and 15 are missing.

Letting out details about the accident, the spokesperson said that the accident occurred on January 31 and there were 90 aboard the ill-fated boat out which 32 belonged to Pakistan.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Ismael, his wife Azmat Bibi and their son Saad Ali, Luqman Ali, Rehmat Khan, Kamran Iqbal, Zabiullah, Hamza Farooq of Gujrat, Ikramul Haq, Muhammad Qasim, Muhammad Farhan and Muhammad Tanzeel of Mandi Bahauddin, Mirza Ghulam Fareed, Waleed and Shah.

However, four of the Pakistanis were to be identified.

The spokesperson said that bodies of another 17 persons that were recovered did not belong to Pakistan.

While talking about bringing the bodies back, the FO official said that foreign minister and foreign secretary are monitoring the situation and steps have been taken to bring the bodies to Pakistan for burial.

He further said that a helpline number has been issued in this regard.

It was reported on February 2 that an estimated 90 migrants were feared to have drowned off the coast of Libya after a smuggler’s boat capsized, leaving three known survivors and 10 bodies washed up on shore, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) had stated.
