Summary National Security Adviser said Pakistan attached great importance to relations with Azerbaijan.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Adviser to the PM on National Security Lt Gen (r) Nasser Khan Janjua on Friday said Pakistan attached great importance to relations with Azerbaijan as those relations were based on strong mutual trust and respect.
In a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Alizada in Islamabad, Nasser Janjua said that since the inception of Azerbaijan, Pakistan was one of those countries that not only recognized it immediately but also supported it in every aspect at every world forum.
Besides security and defence, multiple areas pertaining to the promotion of bilateral relations came under discussion during the meeting.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the level and substance of growing bilateral engagements between the two countries. The two sides also discussed ways and means to further improve cooperation in defence and security.
The ambassador said that Azerbaijan enjoyed cordial and warm relationship with Pakistan and expressed his desire to expand the spectrum of cooperation further.
Ali Alizada also highlighted the fact that the two countries shared views on major regional and international issues concerning peace and security. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s support to Azerbaijan’s stand on the issue of Nagorno Karabakh which is being occupied by Armenia.
The Azerbaijan’s ambassador said that his country fully supported Pakistan’s stand on Kashmir calling for implementation of UN Security Council resolution. Azerbaijan is also the member of OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir.
The envoy also extended invitation to the national security adviser to preside a seminar on “Crime against Humanity: Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing” scheduled to be held in Islamabad on February 20, 2018.
