Summary Sahar Ansari rejected the allegation, accusing female professor of lying for personal interests

KARACHI (Dunya News) – An investigation committee at the Karachi University (KU) found Doctor Sahar Ansari guilty of sexually harassing his female colleague after she had levelled serious allegations against him.

The 76-year-old professor has been banned from entering and teaching at the varsity. The committee recommended to keep him away from the activities of the institute.

In April of 2016, his fellow professor Dr Navin G Haider at the Pakistan Study Centre filed complaint against Ansari. KU vice chancellor Dr Muhammad Qaiser formed a committee led by Dr Rahila Anjum to probe the matter.

Ansari was given a clean chit by the committee in the following month. However, Navin then knocked the door of the Protection of Women against Harassment at the Workplace last year. Provincial Ombudsman Justice (Retd) Shahnawaz Tariq rejected the KU committee’s inquiry report and formed a new committee that overturned the decision.

Responding to the matter, the renowned author Ansari reasoned that he is a heart patient who has undergone an open heart surgery. He called the female professor a liar who is only using the anti-harassment law for personal gains.
