Naqeeb extra judicial murder: SC to resume hearing of suo motu case today

Summary Rao Anwar and federal, provincial home secretaries have been directed to appear in the court.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court (SC) will resume hearing the suo motu case of Naqeebullah Mehsud’s extra judicial murder in an alleged fake encounter at the apex court’s Karachi Registry today (Saturday).

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will hear the case. Justices Ijazul Ahsan and Umar Ata Bandial are the other members of the bench.

The court has also directed suspended Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir, Rao Anwar and federal and provincial home secretaries to appear in the court for hearing.

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probe the extra judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in an alleged police encounter in Karachi on January 16 will also submit its report today in the apex court.

Ther court will also take up six important cases today despite a holiday.

On the other hand, Sindh IG AD KHawaja has formed another committee in the case and also issued a notification. The commmittee will be headed by Addititonal Sindh IG Aftab Patahn, SSPs Investigation Zulfiqar Mehar, Abid Qaimkhani, SSPs Javed Akbar Riaz and Adeel Chandio.

Meanhwile, Rao Anwar has begun search for an influential lawyer to defend himself in the court. The former SSP has contacted three senior lawyers belonging to PPP and one of PTI but none of them has gave a positive response to him.
