LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former premier Nawaz Sharif has congratulated Punjab chief minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Police on Tuesday over arrest of suspect Imran in seven-year-old Zainab murder case.
Maryam Nawaz conveyed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif’s message for the chief minister in a Twitter post after the latter addressed a press conference in Lahore.
Punjab CM announced arrest of the suspect and confirmed that DNA sample of Imran was matched to the sample collected off late Zainab’s body.
Addressing to a joint press conference with late Zainab s father and Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah, he lauded the role of forensic department for carrying out more than 1,100 DNA tests to trace the alleged culprit.
He said: "I promised Zainab’s father that we will find the culprit. And today, after 14 days, we have arrested the culprit. "
"Scientific and human intelligence worked together to get hold of the culprit," Punjab CM added.
