ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountbility court is set to hear three corruption references against former premier Nawaz Sharif and one each against Maryam Nawaz and Capt (r) Safdar today (Tuesday).
The court has summoned three witnesses of the prosecution, sub-inspector of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) police station Umar Daraz Gondal, Foreign Office (FO) Director Afaq Ahmed and NAB Additional Director Nasir Junejo to the hearing tomorrow.
Counsel for the defence will cross-examine the witnesses. A total of 13 witnesses have recorded their statements so far in three cases against the disqualified premier.
Accountability court has conducted 20 hearings of Flagship Investment Ltd reference, 19 of Evenfield Properties and 23 of Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference.
The ousted premier has appeared for the hearings at least 12 times, Maryam Nawaz 14 times while Capt (r) Safdar 15 times.
NAB was ordered to file references against the former first family of Pakistan on July 28, 2016 after he was disqualified for not declaring the salary he was entitled to pocket from a company owned by his son.
He was disqualified in a case pursued by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami Muslim League (AML).
