Summary Reprimanding the petitioners lawyer for wasting courts time, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Friday dismissed a petition, seeking directions against possible shifting of Raymond Davis from Kot Lakhpat Prison Lahore to Adiyala Jail, Rawalpindi.
Rana Illmuddin Ghazi, the petitioner’s lawyer, stated in his petition that rumours of shifting Raymond Davis to Adiyala Jail are circulating. The court should give a stay order against the alleged moving of Davis, the petition requested.The chief justice asked the lawyer whether this information descended upon him divinely or he was a saint who happened to know that Davis would be shifted to Adiyala Jail. Dismissing the petition, the court said that the government never talked about shifting Davis to Adiyala Jail and the petition was based on a hypothesis.
