Summary Sultan Haider beat his main opponent Tariq Afzal of PTI with a margin of nearly 30,000 votes.
CHAKWAL (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won the by-election of the Punjab Assembly constituency PP-20 on Tuesday when PML-N candidate Sultan Haider beat his main opponent Tariq Afzal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with a margin of nearly 30,000 votes.
PP-20 by-election was scheduled by the Election Commission after the demise of Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Liaquat Ali Khan.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, PML-N candidate Sultan Haider, son of the late lawmaker, won the PP-20 by-election by securing 75,655 votes.
PTI’s Tariq Afzal, who had the support of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), bagged 45,700 votes to remain second. Nasir Minhas of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYR) got 15,431 votes to remain third.
