Summary ECP scheduled by-elections in the constituency after

CHAKWAL (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has taken the lead on Tuesday in PP-20 by-election with party’s candidate Sultan Haider securing 59,234 votes defeating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Tariq Afzal, unofficial results from over 174 polling stations suggested.

PP-20 by-election was scheduled by the election commission after Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Liaquat Ali Khan passed away.

Son of the late lawmaker, Chaudhry Sultan Haider contested the election and is leading with a convincing victory against PTI which had the support of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

A total of five candidates contested polls including Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah’s (TLYR) Nasir Minhas who came third.

An independent candidate Dr Tufail contested the election as well.
