ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned replies from Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), the establishment, federal cabinet, law secretary and former premier Nawaz Sharif on January 30 on petition challenging his appointment as president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) after disqualification as the premier.

Justice Amir Farooq heard the plea with the petitioner requesting the court to repeal Section 203 and 232 of the Elections Act 2017.

Legislation is done for the betterment of the people and not for a person. It is against the Islamic and moral practices to re-elect a disqualified official as the party head, according to the plea.

The high court adjourned hearing of the petition until January 30 and summoned replies.
