Summary Senate elections would be held on due time even if political crisis in Balochistan worsens: minister

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior minister Ahsan Iqbal has said on Sunday that no-confidence motion in Balochistan Assembly is an attempt to influence China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The interior minister indulged himself in an exclusive talk with Dunya News and advised the state institutions to operate within their jurisdiction as per the Constitution of Pakistan to avoid creating issues.

He said that political crisis in Balochistan is an attempt to influence CPEC and that the MPAs are being given directives using ‘private numbers’ to stand up against the government.

He asserted that Senate elections would be held on due time even if political crisis in Balochistan worsens. Enemies are working to subject the government to instability and anarchy.

The federal government is reviewing the issue with utmost seriousness and Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is in contact with political leaders to resolve the crisis, the federal minister added.
