ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal has said on Wednesday that a 2,000-strong anti-riots police force would be raised to maintain peace in Islamabad in any eventuality.
He was giving a address during his visit to the centre of Counter-Terrorism Force at Police Lines in Islamabad. The Interior Minister said the government will provide foolproof security to residents of Islamabad.
He told that the economy has suffered a loss of more than Rs100 billion due to war against terrorism.
Iqbal said that at least 6000 policemen were martyred and 70,000 sustained injuries in the war.
He said that a National Action Plan was made and anti-terrorism force was formed. The minister asserted that action against the terrorists was taken with full strength which broke their backbone.
