KARACHI (Dunya News) - The deputy mayor of Karachi, Arshad Vohra, has joined Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party on Sunday.
Vohra formally announced the decision in a press conference in Karachi. He was accompanied by Anis Qaimkhani and other PSP members.
Vohra is an industrialist and a former chairman of SITE Association. He is a chemical engineer with a PhD in textile technology from the UK.
He was elected Member Provincial Assembly of Sindh on May 2013, he resigned from his post after he was nominated Deputy Mayor of Karachi from MQM.
He was elected Deputy Mayor of Karachi on August 24, 2016 and took oath on August 30, 2016.
While addressing the media in the joint press conference, Vohra claimed that further Muttahida Qaumi Movement members would join Pak Sarzameen Party in foreseeable future.
He talked about stepping down from deputy mayor seat and said that the legally allowed process would be followed and all matters would be handled through proper channel.
Vohra said that it is better to relinquish post than to continue without making any progress.
Qaimkhani said that Vohra would now be seen as a culprit by Dr Farooq Sattar-led political party.
