Summary President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday called on the Emperor of Japan Akihito at his palace and discussed bilateral relations and war on terrorism.

Earlier, President Zardari and Japanese PM Naoto Kan signed a pact for flood victims. The aid was promised by Japanese government after last year’s devastating floods in Pakistan. According to sources, President Zardari stressed upon the Japanese leadership to help Pakistan in nuclear sector.This was President Zardari’s second meeting with Emperor Akihito. President Zardari met him in April 2009, when he visited Japan to lead Pakistan’s delegation at the Friends of Democratic Pakistan meeting.Emperor Akihito also appreciated and recognized Pakistan’s role in the war on terror and noted the numerous sacrifices of its security forces and people. President Zardari invited the Japan Corporation to invest in different sectors including energy, infrastructure and railway.
