ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign minister Khawaja Asif has said on Wednesday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s government is not dependent on support of the United States to lead Pakistan like governments of the past.

Asif addressed a session of National Assembly today and in his speech, the minister said that the governments of the past used to seek surity of their power and government from the United States however, it is not like that with the government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

The government of PML-N was given the power by some 200 million people of Pakistan.

Asif said that Pakistan entered a massive compromise in the aftermath of tragic 9/11 attacks and is bearing brunt of that till date however, there would be no compromise over national security of Pakistan anymore.

Pakistan would not budge against United States demands like it has been the practice in the past, the minister added.

Khawaja Asif termed his meeting with United States Secretary of the State Tillerson on Tuesday a pleasant sitting. It was for the first time that heads of all state institutions convened a collective meeting with a US authority in Islamabad under one roof, Asif said.

The minister informed participants of the assembly session that attitude of Pakistan in yesterday’s meeting was not apologetic.

He said that the US authorities were told that Pakistan would act against extremist outfits on intelligence provided by the States. Pakistan does not need aid and the state wants equal ties, the minister said US was told in the meeting.

Solution to Afghan crisis is not in coercive methods but talks, Asif said adding that Pakistan did not succumb to US pressure in the past 2 months.

He said that Taliban rule arouns 45 percent of Afghanistan and that Pakistan brought Taliban to the table earlier but Mullah Mansoor was killed making them pull out right away.
