Summary Parliamentarians are to be held accountable on same standards, says the chief justice
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief justice Saqib Nisar has said on Wednesday that electoral and tax return details of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf secretary general Jahangir Tareen do not bear uniformity.
During hearing of Tareen’s disqualification case today, the chief justice remarked that petitions over offshore companies and Panama Leaks should have been heard in consolidation. He said that there is no evidence to support the notion that Tareen used his minister status to get his company’s loan written off however, his tax returns and electoral details do not have uniformity.
He further said that parliamentarians are to be held accountable on same standards which is why the bench is taking its time to hear the case.
During the hearing today, counsel for PTI’s secretary general Sikandar Basheer reduced the petition against his client to ‘counter blast’ of Panama Leaks verdict against Nawaz Sharif.
