LAHORE (Dunya News) - A local court on Saturday has once again issued a notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan over Rs10 billion defamation suit that was filed by Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif.
During the hearing, Shehbaz Sharif’s lawyer Mustafa told the court that Imran Khan hurls allegations and doesn’t present evidence, adding he also doesn’t respect court’s summons and refrains from appearing before it.
The counsel continued that Imran Khan has not responded to the legal notice so far.
Meanwhile, Khan’s lawyer Babar Awan requested the court to give him time for the submission of detailed reply.
Subsequently, the court has adjourned the hearing till September 25.
Earlier, Imran Khan had claimed that the ruling government offered him Rs10 million bribe to remain silent on the issue of Panama Papers case.
Shehbaz Sharif filed a suit of Rs10 billion against Khan under sections 4 and 9 of the Defamation Ordinance 2002 for allegedly lying and defaming his reputation.
