Summary Imran Khan held press conference with Asad Umar lambasting economic performance of the govt

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan held a press conference along with senior party leader Asad Umar lambasting the economic performance of the government, claiming that Pakistan’s exports have dropped by 15% during the last four years as the overall exports dropped to 21 billion dollars from 25 billion US dollars in 2013, reported Dunya News.

Talking to media in Islamabad, Imran Khan said that the revenues were raised by the government by increasing the taxes. He said that the circular debt has risen again despite the government having paid all the debt in 2013. He added that three new taxes were imposed on electricity and three on petroleum.

Adding to Imran Khan’s points, Asad Umar said that the electricity shortfall in the country was 4000 mega watts in 2013 and it still goes up to 6000 mega watts when the temperature peaks. He said that the reserves had fallen drastically during the last four months, adding that a drop of 4.2 billion dollars had been recorded in the reserves since the end of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.

The two leaders lambasted the government for its economic performance claiming that it had failed to bring the foreign investment into the country and comparing it to the other major players in the region, claimed that Bangladesh and India had seen rise in their exports while Pakistani exports had seen a sharp decline instead.

Imran Khan also demanded Finance Minister s resignation on the occasion, saying that references were being filed against Ishaq Dar in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and he must not hold any position unless the issue is resolved.
