(Web Desk) – As news of Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, being diagnosed with throat cancer emerged, prayers for her swift recovery came in from all corners of the political spectrum.
The news also forced Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s arch rival, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, to tone down there political critique of the Sharif family in the wake of the announcement of her illness.

The news that emerged on Tuesday in the wake of much political drama in the country witnessed a lowering of the political tension that has been on the rise ever since the SC’s verdict ousting PM Sharif from the premiership.

Kulsoom Nawaz is to contest NA-120 by-polls. The national assembly seat had been left vacant after the Supreme Court had disqualified her husband, the then Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif on grounds of Article 62 and Article 63 of the Constitution.
After much intra party deliberation it was announced that the party would field Kulsoom Nawaz for the said constituency.
The wife of ex-prime minister is to contest against PTI’s Dr. Yasmeen Rashid among other candidates on September 17.

It is reported that ex-premier’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz would hold political rallies and continue the political campaign ahead of the by-election in her mother’s absence due to her medical treatment that is reported to start at the earliest.
Chief of PTI Imran Khan also took to social media to convey his regards and well wishes for Kulsoom Nawaz following her diagnosis.
