ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is chairing meeting of the National Security Committee in Islamabad today (Wednesday). Federal Ministers, military leaders and other high officials are present in the meeting.
The meeting will review progress in ongoing anti-terrorism operations and country’s overall security situation. The participants will also exchange views on the Line of Control situation and Pak-Afghan border management.
The meeting takes place weeks after the army launched a new operation against militants in another Khyber tribal region in the northwest. Operation Khyber IV aims to prevent insurgents from carrying out cross-border attacks in Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan.
According to data compiled by South Asian Terrorism Portal, 366 people have lost their lives and around 1137 sustained injuries in terrorism-related incidents in Pakistan since beginning of 2017.
