Summary Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that US citizen Raymond Davis does not qualifies for diplomatic immunity.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad after meeting with US Senator John Kerry, he said he may have to pay for his truth. He said he had already been accused of showing compassion for Musharraf and following the footsteps of Farooq Leghari.Qureshi said that he was asked to remain silent on the issue of Davis but he chose not to be for national interest. He said that he was ready to render himself for accountability.The former minister said that Pakistan and the United States are equally dependant on each other in war against terrorism and the US should respect Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war.He said that it was the time to sustain the national pride as Pakistani people could not compromise on their national pride. I will always stand by the party and do not have any grievance against the prime minister, Qureshi said.
