Summary PTI leader Shireen Mazari has sent a letter to NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has informed Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq that it will not accept any parliamentary committee comprising political opponents to probe MNA Ayesha Gulalai’s allegations against Imran Khan.
In a letter forwarded to the Speaker on Monday, PTI leader Shireen Mazari said: “PTI categorically rejected the formation of a committee comprising parliamentarians (majority from the government benches to look into allegations of harassment etc. In PTI’s view, a committee comprising our political opponents has no credibility – and political opponents cannot be accusers, judge and jury.”

Mazari feared that such committee will become a tool for victimizing political opponents in the future and also will set a bad parliamentary precedent.
“However, PTI stands by its commitment for a credible, neutral inquiry,” she added.

Giving British Parliament’s example, she suggested appointing an independent Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards Office. The Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards deals with the application of the Code of Conduct and related Rules that apply to Members of Parliament.
