President Asif Ali Zardari said in his statement that whenever the need arose, loyal party members of PPP have given sacrifices for the party. The Ministers present in previous cabinet including Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister for Education Sardar Asif Ahmad Ali, Environmental Minister Hameed Ullah Affandi, Minister for Science and Technology Pir Aftab Shah Jilani, Sports Minister Ejaz Jakhrani, and Minister for Privatisation Senator Waqar Ahmad Khan did not join the new cabinet.
