The six-member probe team was formed on order of the top court on April 20, 2017 and was tasked to look into businesses and means of income of the first family of Pakistan after the premier and his children were accused of laundering money and corrupt practices following Panama Leaks that surfaced in April 2016.
Opposition parties have been demanding off the premier to tender his resignation ever since.

On petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami Muslim League (AML), Supreme Court (SC) took up the case in October 2016 and conducted hearings over a span of nearly four months.
The verdict was reserved in February and was delivered on April 20.

As of the most recent development, the probe team filed its report to the three-member SC bench on July 10 and the top court has since held three hearings.
Counsels for the petitioners as well as the premier have concluded their arguments and according to the spokesperson of PTI, the court could deliver verdict this week.
