Summary Former religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi has said that Federal Investigation Agency is doing his character assassination on the feeding of former minister Azam Swati as he bribed FIA for this task.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that when he was willing to cooperate with the FIA regarding Haj scam, his arrest was unnecessary. He said that he had complained to the prime minister and the president about his character assassination by the FIA. Kazmi said that FIA produced no evidence in the Supreme Court regarding his involvement in Haj corruption. He demanded that the Supreme Court should summon Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Umar Ali Khan to enquire why he accused Kazmi of corruption. Kazmi claimed that he would soon prove that Swati used to participate in the funeral processions of Ahmadis in America. He went on to add that he was not the right person to ask about the corruption in the judiciary and this question should be asked to the chief justice of Pakistan. He said that the prime minister had appointed Rao Shakeeland as Haj director general and he opposed this decision, adding that main accused in Haj scam Ahmed Faiz was also not appointed on his suggestion.
