PIA crisis: Govt decides to remove MD Ejaz Haroon

Summary The government has decided to remove MD PIA Ejaz Haroon from his post due to strikes of PIA employees and the financial loss. A delegation of PIA Joint Action Committee called on Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Thursday. The employees demanded that the name of Ejaz Haroon must be put on ECL.

According to the sources, the decision of removing Ejaz was taken after a continuous strike of PIA employees and the financial loss to the department.The employees’ strike continues for the third day after the failure of negotiations with the administration, whereas, all domestic and international flights have been cancelled due to this crisis.The MD PIA could not restart Airline operation after the refusal of 157-members technical staff to work that came with him from Karachi.Meanwhile, a delegation of PIA Joint action committee headed by Captain Suhail Baloch called on Interior Minister Rehman Malik and demanded the removal of Ejaz Harooon as well as putting his name on the Exit Control List (ECL).
