PIA employees continue nationwide protests, 63 flights cancelled

Summary The employees of PIA continued their protests in various cities of the country and upon not fulfilling their demands, the employees have announced a complete strike from today. Many protesters also got injured by ASFs baton charge at Karachi airport. President Zardari telephoned Turkish Prime Minister and talked about the pact between airlines of both countries.

Just because of these ongoing protests, as many as 63 flights, both domestic and international, have been cancelled so far which have caused immense problems for passengers.The protesting employees were not allowed to enter the premises of Benazair International Airport, Islamabad. The flights got cancelled due to unavailability of staff. The employees also had a scuffle with Deputy General Manager Raja Zaheer. Heavy contingents of Rangers and Airport Security Force have been deployed at the airport.Employees in Faisalabad also staged protests and demanded the restoration of suspended employees.
