Summary Embezzlement up to Rs 1.21 billion has been exposed in the Alternative Energy Board (AEB) and a homeopathic doctor was appointed as project director in the board.

According to the audit report, embezzlement of Rs 1.21 billion was made from 2003-2008. According to the report, the AEB used to allot contracts by making fake companies. Rs 1 billion embezzlement was made in the purchase of different items to complete ongoing projects of alternative energy. Dr. S.M. Bhutta was illegaly appointed as technical advisor in the board. And homeopathic doctor Anwar Khan was appointed as project director of village projects who made extra Rs 10 crore expenditures. According to the report, the survey, conducted with heavy expenses of Rs 60 lakhs, was also seemed to be suspected. Board’s new administration has confirmed the embezzlement.
