Summary Almost all domestic and international flights have been cancelled or delayed due to Pakistan International Airline (PIA) employees strike, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.
Pilots, crew and kitchen staff went on strike on Monday, demanding that management reinstate five pilots suspended on disciplinary grounds and are protesting against a proposed codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines. On Wednesday, the employees of private airlines have also announced to support the PIA employees. Joint Action Committee T M Rabbani said that protest would be continued until the cancellation of Turkish Airline pact, restoration of suspended pilots and removal of MD Ejaz Haroon. While on the other side, PIA’s MD has invited PALPA and SAP for briefing on PIA and Turkish Airline issue. Civil Aviation Authority spokesman said that the strike had disturbed all PIA flights.PIA is facing huge loses worth millions of rupee as well as passengers are also affecting. On the other hand, Rangers have been deployed at BenazirAirport Islamabadto control the situation.
