Summary Proceedings of parliament's standing committee on national security will be kept in-camera
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Foreign Advisor Sartaj Aziz on Thursday told the standing committee of the parliament on national security that Afghan forces had targeted innocent Pakistani citizens and thus Bab-e-Azadi, the gateway between Pakistan and Afghanistan, could not be kept open, reported Dunya News.
In its first meeting, it was decided that the proceedings of the committee will be kept in-camera. The first meeting discussed Dawn Leaks, the border issues with India, Afghanistan and Iran, and it was also briefed on the issue of Kulbhushan Jadav, the Indian ‘saboteur’ arrested from Balochistan.
Committee chairman Sardar Ayaz Sadiq declared Dawn Leaks an ordinary issue but also discussed it in detail. He said that the impression that the army and the government were not on the same page was incorrect. He added that the impression allowed the enemies to take full advantage of the situation and requested the media to avoid coverage that’d bring institutions at loggerheads.
The next meeting of the committee will be held after Eid and it will examine the implementation of National Action Plan.
