Summary Jadhav was sentenced to death as per the law: Defence Minister

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Minister for Defence, Khawaja Asif has said on Tuesday that there is no leniency for those who attempt to jeopardize national stability.

While addressing the Senate, Defence Minister laid out the policy statement of the government on multiple issues at hand. In context of Yemen war, he said that Pakistan would not become a part of aggression against a Muslim country.

While talking about Raheel Sharif being the leader of 34-country Muslim alliance against terrorism, Asif said that he would inform the House whenever the former Chief of the Army Staff would be given NOC by the Government of Pakistan.

The Senate and the elected members would not be bypassed, he added.

Khawaja Asif also said that reservations of Iran are being addressed by the Government of Pakistan.

While addressing the participants on issue of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, the federal minister said that he was arrested in March last year and a case was underway against him for past three months.

Jadhav was sentenced to death as per the law, Asif asserted.

However, he said that the Indian spy has the right to appeal against the sentence.

Jadhav was held by law enforcement agencies in a counter-terror operation in Mashakel of Balochistan on March 3, 2016. A confessional video that was released by media cell of Pakistan Army showed the in-service spy confessing association with Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

He confessed to being tasked by the Indian intelligence agency to work towards destabilising Pakistan, sponsoring terrorism, conspire to fail China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
