PESHAWAR (Dunya News / AFP) – At least 21 people were killed and 50 others injured when a powerful explosion rocked the northwestern city of Parachinar in Kurram Agency on Friday.

Hundreds of people were present in Noor Market around when the explosion took place. Initial details suggest that the blast was caused by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.

Local administration official Shahid Ali Khan confirmed the blast had taken place near the mosque.



The injured persons have been shifted to nearby hospitals where emergency has been declared. Doctors said they feared the death toll would rise

On January 21 this year, a bomb explosion at a vegetable market in Parachinar, the capital of the Kurram tribal district on the Afghan border, killed at least 21 people and wounded 40 others.
