Summary Commanders of Asmatullah group were among the four killed: ISPR

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Four most wanted terrorists were gunned down on Monday in an intelligence-based operation in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Media cell of Pakistan Army, Inter-Services Public Relations reported that the killed terrorists belonged to Asmatullah Shaheen group of banned Tehrik-i-Taliban. Commander Zaman alias Tufan, second lead of the group and Asmatullah’s son named Umar, commander Wasiullah and commander Zulmuddin alias Zulmat were confirmed killed.

Army reported that a huge cache of weapons was seized in the operation. The group was infamous for target killings, extortion and kidnappings for ransom in Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas.




Asmatullah was a member of shura of banned Tehrik-i-Taliban and was killed in 2014 over an intra-group clash.

Ongoing counter-terror operations in the country were ramped up after multiple suicide blasts in Lahore, Sehwan Sharif and Peshawar claimed over 100 lives and wounded more than 200.

Border with Afghanistan was sealed after the attacks while the Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa demanded of the Afghan government to hand over 76 wanted terrorists.

Meanwhile, terror attack on Mall Road of Lahore outside the provincial assembly has moved the government to seek Rangers help to weed-out budding terror elements in the province, Reportedly, a summary has been forwarded to Governor of Punjab for approval of deployment of paramilitary force.
